Partner and Leadership Transition Coaching Program
Designing What Comes Next, With Purpose and Intention. What We Do
Built for Firm Leaders in Transition.
Ready to Design What’s Next.
With Purpose, Strategy and Intention.
Firm leaders spent decades building something remarkable and now face their next great opportunity. No one prepared them for the meaningful and strategic work that follows. The Partner & Leadership Transition Coaching Program is how they do that work.
This is not generic retirement coaching. It is not career counseling. It is a purpose-built, rigorous, 90-day engagement that addresses what succession planning and financial advisory do not: who you are becoming, not just what you are leaving.
Why This Program Exists
Firm Leaders Are The Most Important Elements of Success.
At Whitman Advisory, we work inside CPA firms every day. We always focus on the best outcome for our firms and their leadership teams. Through this work, we came to realize that one of the most important elements of a comprehensive firm transition plan is the human element, the piece that is sometimes missing.
Financial advisors handle the money. Succession consultants close the deal. But when firm leaders walk out the door, the question that matters most goes unasked: What comes next for them?
We built this program because our commitment to CPA firm success has always included the people who built it. The transition of firm leadership is not just a financial event; it is one of the most significant life design opportunities any of us will ever face. It deserves the same rigor, strategy, and intention we bring to everything else at Whitman Advisory.
WHAT THIS IS
A structured, 90-day engagement focused on who we are becoming — not just what we are leaving.
WHAT THIS IS NOT
Generic retirement planning. Career counseling. A financial checklist. A vague “what’s next” conversation.
Developed by Tavi Meketon, MBA, SPHR, CPRC — Managing Director at Whitman Advisory, former COO, and practice management consultant who has guided firm leaders through this transition from both sides of the table.
How it Works
The Four Pillars of Firm Leader Transition.
Pillar 1: Identity Beyond the Firm
Who are you when the title is no longer part of the introduction?
The first pillar begins with honest inventory. Leaders take stock of what they built, what it cost them, and what remains possible in the years ahead. Here they separate the person from the professional role, learning to see themselves clearly, perhaps for the first time in decades. Identity is no longer borrowed from a business card. It is reclaimed, examined, and rebuilt on terms that belong entirely to the individual.
Pillar 2: Time & Structure
How do you design a life with meaning, rhythm, and purpose when the firm is no longer setting the cadence?
The second pillar moves from identity into architecture. Leaders examine how they structure their days, audit the relationships in their lives honestly, and begin building an intentional social landscape aligned with their values, not their former firm.
Pillar 3: Social Connection
How can you create new social connections during your day?
During the third pillar, leaders build a coherent daily and weekly structure, and an intentional relationship landscape aligned with their values. Leaders map what they have, name what’s missing, and build an intentional relationship landscape rooted in who they are now.
Pillar 4: Legacy & Impact
What do you want to build, contribute, and be remembered for?
The final pillar translates everything that came before into an executable plan. Leaders pressure-test their ideas with rigor and honesty, then build a 12-month roadmap anchored by specific commitments and tent pole events and conclude with a Personal Intention Statement that defines who they are in this next chapter.
We didn’t build remarkable careers by accident. What comes next deserves the same intention, and the same quality of thinking.
HOw It Works
90 Days. 12 Sessions. One Clear Plan.
We designed this process the way we design everything at Whitman Advisory, with milestones, accountability, and nothing left vague. Each session builds on the last. Between-session work sustains momentum. You leave with real deliverables, not just a better sense of direction.
Weeks 1-2
Inventory & Grounding
We account for everything built and everything carried. Establish the honest baseline from which real design begins.
Weeks 3-5
Identity & Values
We surface the professional role versus the person. Identify what was deferred, what it cost, and what remains fully possible.
Weeks 6-8
Architecture & Design
We build the structure of days, relationships, and pursuits — an intentional landscape aligned with values, not inertia.
Weeks 9-12
Plan & Intent
We translate everything into a 12-month roadmap with specific commitments. You leave with a written Personal Intention Statement.
Who This Serves
Three Paths to Enrollment.
The Partner & Leadership Transition Coaching Program is designed to reach firm leaders wherever they are in transition, whether coming to it themselves, supported by their firm, or arriving through a trusted advisor.
Direct-to-Leader
Individual Enrollment
As an individual, you can proactively own your transition, approaching retirement, or navigating post-sale life design. This program allows you to have an intentional transition in a structured, expert-guided process that produces a real plan, not a vague intention.
Firm-Sponsored Enrollment
Most Common Path
Forward-thinking firms can include transition coaching as part of a succession package or M&A transaction for departing partners. It demonstrates that the firm values its people, not just the transaction, and produces smoother transitions with less regret and fewer reversals.
Referral Partner
Advisors & Planners
Financial advisors, estate planners, wealth managers, and M&A attorneys handle the financial picture. We handle the human picture. Refer your clients with confidence, deepen those relationships, and generate revenue on qualified referrals.
DELIVERING RESULTS
Partner & Leadership Transition Process.
Over 90 days, leaders receive 12 weekly 1-1 structured coaching sessions covering the Four Pillars of Leaders Transition. This program is milestone-driven and deeply personalized, with each session building on the last. Two formal checkpoints ensure you have a solid foundation before advancing while between-session assignments sustain momentum across the full 90 days.
What Firm Leaders Gain
You leave with deliverables. Not just direction.
Those who complete this 90-day program leave with tangible deliverables, a clear plan, and a fundamentally different relationship and picture of what comes next.
Strategic Clarity
A proactive, executable strategy for the next chapter, not “we’ll see what happens,” but a specific roadmap with milestones, commitments, and tent pole events over the next 12 months.
Internal Foundation
A new sense of calm and confidence rooted in a clear identity beyond professional role, permission to pursue what genuinely matters, honest accounting of what was built and what can still be created, and freedom from the anxiety of “what now?”
Scalable Delivery Model
The one-on-one format ensures deep personalization for every client. Session guides provide structure and consistency across all coaching relationships. The program can be delivered remotely via Zoom or in person. And the repeatable process is designed to support training of additional certified coaches as demand grows — ensuring Whitman can scale this offering without sacrificing quality.
Life Architecture
An intentional life plan built around meaningful goals aligned with their deepest values, hobbies and pursuits deferred for decades, daily and weekly structure that creates rhythm and purpose, and relationships chosen deliberately rather than inherited from the firm.
Unlimited Possibility
Partners shift from managing decline to stepping into a landscape where anything is possible, new ventures, creative pursuits, meaningful service, deeper relationships, or the intentional enjoyment of a well-designed life.
